Also, was ist diese Geschichte? Zeit in Namibia. He is in the Guinness Book. He climbed the seven summits, so the highest peak in every continent, including Mount Everest, of course. And 400 other people have done this before. However, he sailed the seven seas. So he crossed the Sieben Weltmeere. So he is an outstanding, adventurous person with heaps of experience. And she, she trusts everybody, but not herself. So it couldn't be spread more than this. So I had my pivotal moment spending 18 days with those guys out there, coaching them, team whatever. He said, after three hours, we are going up the Nevada Falls. She was falling behind, and I said, I believe in her. And she was so far behind, we were two hours late at the Nevada Falls. And he said, TJ, Martin, he said, TJ, do you have a plan B? And I said, in my, how do you say, uncertainty, I said, I have a plan B. C, D, E, F, and G. Trust me, she'll make it. And as you can see, 18 days later, she made it. So during that 18 days you had lots of time to think. So my goal was to put an experience together, where we put business people for a couple of days in an environment. For example, the Alps. We do not go the E5 or some other famous trail. We scout our own, because I want to make an experience. So we started off at Schloss Neuschwanstein. There is no Alpenkross starting at Neuschwanstein, no official one. But I said I want to start there and have a guide tour us through Neuschwanstein on the first day and make it really relaxed, have a luxury hotel at the beginning, so that they all feel comfortable. Add paragliding to it. Imagine you are going around a corner and you think you have to go down and it is another 2 hours and there are 7 tandem pilots waiting for you to fly you down. Can you imagine? So paragliding involved outstanding scenery, having huts, self-contained huts, hotels. This is Hanauer Hütte. This is a live shot from one of our experiences. So to be in an environment that you have never been before, that probably you have not dreamt before. Make it an experience where we have checkpoints in between. So half day there is a checkpoint, there is a grill, there is some barbecue on it and it is motivating. Have outstanding magical moments and doing this together. Being proud of what you have done. Have pivotal moments and insights that the life might change now or you should take a different direction in life because maybe some other surprises. And this is also a very diverse group. Average people like us and this is Dee. Dee is the father of the chef of all the Navy SEALs in America. He did not hike or climb the mountains. He digged through them. He said, TJ, give me a mountain, give me something to do. After two days he had blisters you would not look at. You do not want to look at. But he did everything. It was amazing. So have those moments. One of the areas that was very special that you will not find in other activities is the reflection in the evening. To discuss, to reflect what has happened during the day. And to celebrate at the end. This is the Vinschgau, the Rechensee, the sunk village. And this is our end point, north of Italy, south Tyrol, when we are finished and we celebrate. And you see the energy, you see the different faces. And of course at the end everybody receives a buckle that will remember this experience for a lifetime. It is handmade and it has been handed over the evening of the final day. So a nature leadership experience was created. We understood by doing this now for four or five years what kind of ingredients, what kind of components need to be there, you need to facilitate, you need to put in place so that people are able to grow. Grow physically, grow mentally, grow from the leadership aspect. And all this has been put into that experience. First of all, there has to be room and a foundation to create, but not only that, but to show emotions. That you open up, that you don't have to shy away if a tear is running down. That you open up to all your teammates. So we created a code of honor on every experience. At the beginning, the night before, we create a value system amongst everybody that everybody stands on. So that you are respectful, that you are open-minded, that you give it your all. And this value system is being created by the participants. So that emotions are able to be created or to be shown. Even on the first night, when people stand up and stand in front, like I stand in front of you, saying, you know, I'm this guy, in my usual life I do this, and I'm here because. The tears start running, because there is a dream, there is something that they would like to break through, something that they would like to experience. And when emotions have their room, they probably shy away. The second part is that you have to embed risks. Manageable risks. We talked about this this morning or in the other talks. It's risks that you, and I'm a certified mountain guide, that you are able to manage. And these are all red, in our terminology here in the Alps, it looks like black, but it's red. So I'm allowed to guide it, and those risks that people have to go through with their fear, on the other side of the fear there's growth waiting for you. So you have to put them through that experience that is manageable for you, and where the risk is manageable itself. The third part is that you need to, I call it objektivieren, so that it's part of the growth principle, is that you have to reflect. So every evening we ask the question, who would like to share something? Is there something that is on top that you would like to articulate? And on every day, with the first answer to that question, a whole room opens up, and we reflect on what has happened. Because an Alpenkross or a nature experience that lasts at least 2 or 3 days, is a project on speed. I've done projects for 30 years, large projects with over 1 billion euros of Gesamtvolumen, of value, and what you go through in a project in half a year, you see, you perceive here in a day. All the team phases, all the emotions, everything happens on a day. Various aspects on different days. And if you are able to reflect, you will get a deep learning and a better understanding, and people start growing by reflecting on what they have perceived. Number four, it has to be a little awkward. So it has to feel like when you cross your arms, do that just for a sec, just cross your arms, okay, just cross your arms, and now cross them the other way. Does it feel awkward? That's only what it takes. It has to feel awkward. If you, and you talked about it, the one that presented before, gender doesn't matter after the first day except with 40 others in the big dorm. Farting, going for pee, all the smell, you all have perceived that. After day two, it doesn't matter anymore, but it felt awkward day one. When you think you have never hiked more than 10 kilometers before, the first day you hike 12, because otherwise you're not able to reach the hut. Our distances are like 15 to 25 kilometers per day, so if you go through that, it feels awkward. You feel some pain. It's like it hurts, but it's all mental. It's not the feet that carry you, it's the mind. And if you go through that, you grow. So you have to embed experiences or areas where it feels awkward, where you cross the arms the other side.
And we both had them invited for a one-hour webinar Zoom call for our clients. And there have been more than 100 in our Zoom room. And just look at the time. It was a three-hour experience with those two guys. It's an amazing, amazing talk. And what I realized, that Stacy, he does not look at the bucket list, because a bucket list is driven or looking forward to your death. It's something that you would like to do before you die. So he came up, and that's what he's famous for, the 100-List. He would like you to make a list that makes you thrive, that is creating curiosity, that would like you to step into another me to conquer whatever needs to be conquered, whether you want to play the guitar, whether you want to climb Everest or whatever. And he says, everything that you put on that list stays on the list. And it's up to you to thrive towards that and to make it happen. So on his list, he also put this 100-List together when he invented that. And one of the areas was not just hiking or climbing Everest and what other kind of things. You can see it on his website. But also to become a doctor or a professor at one of the best universities in the US. So to become a doctor, most of you know that. I'm not a doctor, so I haven't gone through that. But some of you know that. You have to come up with a thesis. So you have to put a paper together. And you can find that online for the ones who are interested in the science behind the GROW principle. He came up with a thesis, Find the Attributes of Meaningful Learning Experience in an Outdoor Education Program. It's been issued 2004. Stacy Torutani-Gucci at Brigham Young University. And in his thesis, you will find the evidence. And I thought, you know, with the GROW principle, I invented this. I put emotions in there, risks. It has to feel awkward. You need to reflect on it. It's the four elements that he came up with, in different words, but four elements that he came up with by studying thousands of young ones that he put through those experiences. So the question to you is, first of all, or for us is, what has been the impact that we have been achieved by putting this together since 2019? First of all, for the ones who are interested in putting her outdoor enthusiasm into a business model, is the business aspect. The experiences by crossing the Alps are five times more expensive than with any other Alpine school, and we're booked. It's not 1,000 Euro with the Oberstdorfer Alpinschule or with the Kleinwalsertal, whatever. It's 5,000 Euros. Because it has a different purpose. There's another impact. Plus, there is a preparation phase. There is a reflection phase afterwards, so we prepare them. We have Zoom calls. We put them through a training regime so that they're able to do that. They have some hiking experiences in between, so they know each other. They're like a team already, or they think they're a team already. They will learn different. We put people into a leadership role during that experience. It's not me guiding that. I could do that. Of course, I'm observing, like the glukker that's flying from the top, the eagle looking at everything. Everybody is fine if we're in time, if we're on the right track. But we announce a leader every day. On day one, they learn that they can't do it alone. You know, the eagle guys, they think, of course, I can lead that one through this mountain. I will make this happen. On day one, they learn that they probably might need a navigator, that they might need somebody. We call them shepherd, who's at the end, who makes sure that everybody is catching up while the ego-driven ones are up front. So you learn some new leadership activities and leadership roles. There is a transformation that you're able to perceive with everybody who's participating, and you all do this in nature. As you already know, we, the Curtings, make this podcast out of passion to inspire people like you. And it would be really great if you could give us a review, a rating, and recommend this podcast to other people who might benefit from it in a similar way to how you do it. That really means a lot to us. Thank you for that. And now we'll see you in one of the next episodes. Until then, I'm Thorsten from the Curtings, and now I'm going to get to work. Ciao, ciao.
